As a church we want to do something to help those affected in Nepal by the earthquake last weekend. You may be aware that Christ Church supports the work of Tearfund in Sagoal, Nepal and we have received the following from them:
You'll no doubt have seen the heartbreaking news coming from Nepal following a devastating earthquake which struck on Saturday.
Whilst we have been relieved to hear that everyone at Sagoal is safe, we know that many lives have been devastated in the churches and communities they work with. Rather than being part of Tearfund's disaster response work, Sagoal themselves will be focussing on helping those in their partner churches and communities to care for one another in the aftermath of this tragic situation.
More than anything Nepal needs your prayers. Please pray for everyone at Sagoal and the churches they work with as they come to terms with all that has happened and pray that together with our partners Tearfund will be able to 'follow Jesus where the need is greatest'.
Yours in Christ,
Catherine, Bobbie, Derek, Fiona, Nathaniel, Alice and Carina
Tearfund's Churches Team
With this in mind, the offertory at this Sunday’s 10.30am service will be sent to Tearfund’s Disaster Relief Fund to help in Nepal. Please do give generously. For those of you who can gift aid your donation, please place it in a yellow envelope (available from the back of church) and mark it ‘Nepal’.
Our next Café Church service will be on Sunday 17th May at 10.30am. The team who went to Kondoa, Tanzania over the Easter period will be sharing with us; Nick Beston, Jay and Liesel will provide the music and refreshments will be served by the Men’s Ministry team from 10am. I attach a flier that you can give to any friends and family who you would like to invite to join you at this event.
