harvest festival and highway race day

Dear Christ Church,

Next Sunday, 27th September, is our Harvest Festival Service at 10.30am.  (The 9am Holy Communion Service will also celebrate Harvest)

Once again, any produce given will be taken to Orpington Foodbank to help those in need in our town.  To help you know what to bring they have suggested the following:

  • tins of meat

  • tins of vegetables

  • tins of potatoes or packets of mash potatoes

  • pasta sauce

  • tins of sponge puddings

  • shower gel

  • shampoo

  • toilet rolls

  • nappies

Please DO NOT bring:

  • baked beans

  • tins of soup

  • dried pasta

The Foodbank need a van to move food goods between their five outlets.  The morning offertory will therefore be sent to them to boost their fundraising for this vehicle.

On the same morning, Highway Primary School are having a race day and have asked if Christ Church will provide a water station outside the vicarage – runners will be coming up Charterhouse Road and crossing at the vicarage to run down Malvern Road.  We are looking for about 3 volunteers to help with this and to give encouragement to the runners – if you are interested please email the church office ccorpington@talktalk.net

They have also asked that no cars be parked outside the vicarage and at the entrance to Malvern Road.

After the service, the young people will be having a Macmillan Coffee Morning.  If you are able, could you please bring or bake a cake for us to sell. The last time they did this it was a huge success and they are looking forward to running this again (and eating lots of lovely cake for charity!)

We do hope you can join us as we thank God for his wonderful provision and serve our local community.

Kind regards,

Mrs Andy Goddard

Parish Administrator
