events coming up

Dear Friends at Christ Church,

I would like to tell you of some events coming up:

Ascension Day – Thursday 25th May

Tomorrow is Ascension Day and we will be holding a Holy Communion Service in the Chapel at 8pm.  In light of this week’s terrorist attack in Manchester, Jay sees this as an opportunity for those who want to, to come to church to hear about and pray through the issues of pain, suffering and loss which he will be focusing upon.

Women’s Ministry Breakfast – Saturday 27th May - 9.30am - 12 noon

Fresh fruit salad, yogurt, pastries, bacon or sausage rolls and guest speaker Yvonne Ellis; author and founder of Daughter Arise; a Christian based company which believes in showing the love of Jesus through action by supporting vulnerable people in our community.

The aim of Daughter Arise is to support those who have been through sexual abuse and also emotional and physical abuse who are struggling with the aftermath to help them build a solid foundation for their future by offering encouragement, support, education and spiritual motivation which in turn will empower the individual to make informed choices and positive changes in their circumstances.

Tickets available on the door for £5. Suitable for ladies 18+ - please consider who you can bring! Yvonne will be bringing a small number of books for signing. The books are £10. If you'd like a signed copy, please bring along payment on the day.

Pentecost Praise – Sunday 4th June

On the evening of Pentecost Sunday, at 6.30pm, our Gospel Choir warmly invite you to a Songs of Praise style Celebration.  A time to make a joyful noise to our Lord, space for the Holy Spirit to move amongst us and a chance to hear some stories from some of our members. Please come along and celebrate with us!   Refreshments will be served in the Café from 6pm.

Thy Kingdom Come

This prayer event spear-headed by our Archbishops starts on Ascension Day and finishes on Pentecost Sunday.  The church will be open each day from 9am to 9pm for people to pray quietly by themselves – you will be signposted to the Chapel to pray.  The following links give ideas to encourage this time of prayer:
