pastoral care

We aim to offer helpful, confidential and appropriate pastoral care to all of our congregations, staff, and visitors.

The best and most used resource is each other! Friends and other members of the church make up one of the most effective sources of pastoral care.

Small groups play an important part in the life of Christ Church Orpington. A large proportion of the congregation meet regularly during the week for learning and fellowship in these groups, and this is where pastoral care can be exercised at its best. Please contact Nelson Pallister if you would like to join a small group.

For urgent situations, please contact the church office on 01689 871601 or Greta Kitchener on

If you know that you will be going into hospital, please let the Church Office know in advance on 01689 871601 if you would like us to contact the hospital chaplain on your behalf. We may be able to organise a visit from a member of the Christ Church pastoral team and also add your name to the prayer list if you would like us to.

If you need practical support such as a lift to hospital or church, it may be possible to help. Please contact Greta Kitchener, Head of Pastoral Care on

If you would like someone to talk to, we have a team of trained listeners.  Christ Church also has a team of Prayer Ministers, who would be privileged to pray with you after the end of Sunday services.

If you need longer-term counseling or spiritual direction, we are often able to help you find other suitable resources.
